Cereal: The Best Way To Start Your Day
We all know the importance of breakfast, but new research suggests people who choose cereal for breakfast think more clearly, have more energy, and feel less stress and depression than those who opt for other “healthy” choices.
Researchers compared people who ate cereal and people who made other healthy breakfast choices, like fruits and veggies. The two groups got equal amounts of fiber, but only the cereal eaters reported feeling better and more energetic. The study authors think it’s because of the way the body breaks down cereal and uses it for energy. Cereal may also help increase the production of healthy bacteria in our intestines. So fill up your bowl, but make sure your cereal is low in sugar, less than 10 grams per serving is a good guideline, and high in fiber.
