Yes, Cheerios, America’s number one breakfast cereal, has celebrated its 70th birthday this past week*.

Forbes is celebrating with a list of interesting Cheerios facts, such as:

  • More than 10 shapes and sizes were considered before the current “o”.
  • Four years after their debut, Cheerioats were renamed Cheerios.
  • It would take approximately 3,155,524,416 Cheerios to circle the earth

You have to wonder what the 9 other shapes “Cheerios,” the world’s most literally-named cereal, could have possibly been.

Be sure to read them all on Forbes, and maybe join the celebration with a bowl of ’em this morning. Personal recommendation: Apple Cinnamon.

* Well, assuming that all Cheerio breeds are included in that figure, since the Forbes link also claims that Honey Nut Cheerios have outsold regular ones since 2009.
