Caribou Coffee, the second largest company-owned gourmet coffeehouse operator in the United States, said coffeehouse sales in the third quarter are up 4% from the same period of fiscal 2009. The gain was attributed to increased traffic in coffeehouses and a higher average guest check, primarily due to higher food sales, as a result of the launch of hot cereal in all of Caribou’s coffeehouses earlier in the year.

The quick run-down on Caribou’s “handcrafted oatmeal” – You start with two choices:  Regular or Seven-Grain.  You then choose a flavor:  Classic, Apple Cinnamon, Maple Brown Sugar Crunch, Very Berry, or Cranberry Orange.  Cost is about $2.75.
