Raisin Bran is one of the most consistent cereals ever. It’s been around for nearly 100 years, and changed very little since then. Oh, sure, they’ve occasionally switched it up a bit—some Craisins here, some crunch there—but overall it’s been pretty much the same thing since eight o’clock day one, especially compared to the big-name, kid-targeted cereals like, say, Lucky Charms, which seems to change its marshmallow lineup every few months, and isn’t afraid to mix in with completely different cereals now and then. Or add unicorns!

No, to my memory, the biggest, most-promoted change in Raisin Bran history was when Kellogg’s added a second scoop of raisins into the box. Two scoops!

Well anyway, forget all that—that’s all about to change! Yes, folks, you heard it here first: Kellogg’s has added bananas. That is to say, “Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Bananas” is now a thing. Don’t believe me? Well here’s a quote, straight from the Marketing Director for Kellogg’s Morning Foods’s mouth!

“We’re committed to providing the tasty and nutritious food options our consumers want,” said Sam Minardi, Marketing Director for Kellogg’s Morning Foods. “So, we looked to consumer requests and preferences for our newest addition to the Kellogg’s Raisin Bran lineup, and both led us to Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Bananas.”

I haven’t tried it yet, but I imagine it will be something like having sweetened banana chips mixed into the cereal, like Post has in their Banana Nut Crunch. Apparently its out now, if we’re to believe their press release:

Kellogg’s Raisin Bran® with Bananas is being released now at all major retailers and grocery stores where breakfast foods are sold for a suggested retail price of $3.99.
