Cinnamon Pebbles (Post)
Cinnamon Pebbles was one of the most talked about new cereals announced for 2017 at the end of last year, which kind of surprised me. I know a lot of people who like Pebbles, but I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone say it was their favorite cereal or anything, so I was surprised to see the excitement of so many people commenting on the news about its upcoming release.
I also had some reservations because I swear there was already a Cinnamon Pebbles cereal years ago, but with bigger, puffier cereal pieces. Maybe I was thinking of something else, but whatever I was thinking of was not so great.
Those fears were unfounded, however, as I located a box and have been working my way through it for the past week or so. It’s good—it’s really, really good!
First, it tastes more like Cinnamon Toast Crunch than off-brand Cinnamon Toast Crunch knock-offs do. It actually tastes more like it than Cinnamon Toast Crunch’s own disappointing holiday Cinnamon Star Crunch cereal from last year. And as a big fan of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, to me, that’s a good thing.
The other great part of this cereal is its texture. No giant, over-puffed cereal pieces here, just pure, classic Pebbles. In my opinion, the Pebbles cereals have one of the best textures of any cereal out there, and that trend carries over to the Cinnamon variety. I don’t know what it is about the weird half-flake, half-Rice Krispies cereal pieces that makes Pebbles so enjoyable, but it really works!
Post’s been doing great things with Pebbles since the release of the also-very-delicious Rainbow Sherbet Ice Cream Fruity Pebbles cereal from a couple of summers back, and I hope they keep coming up with these news flavors every so often.
