Corn Flakes (Kellogg's)
Taste like corn, but that’s okay. You go in knowing what to expect: it’s plain, it’s boring, but sometimes that’s what you want. It’s the control; the cereal to judge other cereal flavors by.
Not sweet at all, which is not a bad thing, but there’s still high fructose corn syrup in the ingredients. Why in God’s name…?
Instant sog. Kellogg’s Corn Flakes are so crisp and delicate when dry that they turn into a fine paste within seconds of pouring on milk. I am awarding 3 points for the cereal’s crunch when eaten dry.
Kellogg’s Corn Flakes look plain, which, again, is what you want in a corn flakes cereal. No artificial colors or weird shapes or marshmallows or anything. Just middle-of-the-road, the way it should be.
I will credit Kellogg’s for keeping the packaging simple to match the cereal; mazes and crosswords on a box of corn flakes would seem out of place (hey, does anyone else remember Cornelius Rooster?), but there’s still nothing worth reading. At least give me a big, long history of Kellogg’s or something.
Sometimes you just want a plain, simple cereal, and when that’s the case, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes will get the job done. I can’t award a perfect 10, though, because I’d be just as happy eating a box of off-brand corn flakes, and I’d have an extra dollar in my wallet, too.
